Preparing the Firewall Settings on your NSS Servers
The connections and network calls used by NSS require certain ports to be opened in the firewall. You can either open these ports individually, or you can disable the firewall capability on you NSS application server(s).
You must make these changes on each of your NSS servers.
OPTION 1: OPENING PORTS
|1||Go to Start > Windows Firewall with Advanced Security > Inbound Rules and click on New Rule (1).|
|2||Select Port (2) and click Next.|
|3||Enter the ports (3) that NSS uses by following the Ports Used by NSS guide. Click Next when done.
You only need to specify the ports that correlate to the features of NSS that you will be using in your environment.
|4||Select the Allow the connection (4) option and click Next.|
|5||Make sure that all profiles are checked and click Next (5).|
|6||Enter a Name and Description for the rule and click Finish (6).|
|7||Verify that you have an Inbound rule (7) for the ports that you just created.|
|8||Repeat all steps for Outbound rules|
OPTION 2: DISABLING THE FIREWALL
|1||Go to Start > Windows Firewall and click on Turn Windows firewall on or off (1).|
|2||Select Turn off Windows Firewall for all three profiles and click Ok (2).|
